Frida

The work constructs an iconic portrait of Frida Kahlo integrated within a dense and exuberant chromatic field. The floral crown, continuous brow, and yellow earrings establish the sitter's identity, while the face's lack of detail transforms physical likeness into symbolic presence. The body, modelled in browns, ochres, and golden accents, merges with the dense matter of the violet and blue ground, as though the figure were absorbing the surrounding landscape. The red heart placed upon the chest concentrates the work's affective dimension and refers to the relationship among suffering, vulnerability, and creation.
