The Mask

The work explores identity as a fragile surface, partially concealed and continually reconfigured. The female figure is constructed through powerful chromatic contrasts that give the composition a direct, almost theatrical presence. At the centre of the image, the face is obscured by an element that blocks the gaze and transforms the portrait into a meditation on concealment, vulnerability, and the impossibility of apprehending identity in its entirety. The facial features, reduced to essential signs, heighten the ambiguity between appearance and withdrawal.
